International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention
MICCAI is an important event in the field of computer medical imaging, computer-assisted surgery including biomedical imaging and robotics. This year MICAAI 2014 held in Boston from 14 to 18 September and will include many clinicians, biologists, computer scientists, engineers, physicists, and other researchers.

The Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (the MICCAI Society) is dedicated to the promotion, preservation and facilitation of research, education and practice in the field of medical image computing and computer assisted medical interventions including biomedical imaging and robotics, through the organization and operation of regular high quality international conferences and publications which promote and foster the exchange and dissemination of advanced knowledge, expertise and experience in the field produced by leading institutions and outstanding scientists, physicians and educators around the world. The MICCAI Society is committed to maintaining high academic standards and independence from any personal, political or commercial vested interests.
2 PhD of the project team ASCLEPIOS from Inria Sophia-Antipolis - Méditerranée Centre obtained a travel award for MICCAI 2014 conference :
> Bishesh Khanal for his paper "A biophysical model of exchange shape due to atrophy in the brain with Alzheimer's disease"
> Loic on Folgoc for his paper "Sparse Bayesian Registration"
2 researchers from the same team are co-organizers of two workshops to be held on September 18 :
> Maxime Sermesant is co-organizer of the workshop STACOM 2014 (Statistical Atlases and Computational Modeling of the Heart)
> Xavier Pennec is co-organizer of the workshop STIA (Spatiotemporal Image Analysis for Longitudinal and Time-Series Image Data).
Nicholas Ayache , Research Director at Inria Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée Centre, the newly appointed professor on the Chair in Informatics and Computational Sciences at the Collège de France, is one of founding members of MICCAI.
Xavier Pennec , researcher at Inria Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée Centre, is board of Directors's member.
