To mark this commitment, on November 26 the Inria center in Saclay will host a performance of C.E.N.D.R.E, an immersive and participatory play created by the Laps / équipe du matin company, with the support of the L'Oréal Foundation as part of the Jeunes Talents France L'Oréal-UNESCO Pour les Femmes et la Science program.
C.E.N.D.R.E: a journey to the heart of the realities of ordinary sexism in research
"Cendrine is a young mathematician. She has just been recruited to Landforestbuild, a multidisciplinary laboratory, to model the results of her physicist and biologist colleagues on a plot of Landes forest. This post-doc is exciting and gives meaning to her commitment to research, but she is about to face the difficulties of a demanding, elitist and competitive profession. She discovers that she is, after all, only the last link in the laboratory's food chain."
Inspired by 5 authentic testimonials from young female researchers from a variety of scientific fields, C.E.N.D.R.E immerses the audience in an enlightening story, where every nuance of sexist and sexual violence is brought to light. From ordinary sexism to toxic power dynamics, the play explores issues such as gender bias, stereotypes, hierarchical pressures and the impact of harassment on victims' careers and mental health.
Why take part?
- A unique, interactive format: more than just a show, C.E.N.D.R.E invites each spectator to take part in a collective, participative reflection.
- A high-impact event: help break the taboos surrounding SGBV and build a respectful, egalitarian working environment.
- Raising awareness: this initiative is part of a global movement to eradicate sexist and sexual violence
An awareness-raising campaign to change attitudes
To coincide with the play, the Inria center in Saclay deployed a series of striking posters in its corridors. These 10 visuals, designed by LIRMM based on an original idea by UNIUNIE / JUMP / CLASHES, tackle a variety of themes: ordinary sexism, harassment, gender bias, pressure at work, etc. Their mission? Their mission? To make people react, inform them and free their voices.
