Inria and MITACS renew their agreement in favour of scientific mobility

Capitalizing on five years of research-collaboration success, Mitacs and Inria renewed their partnership originally signed in 2014. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) supports two-way international research opportunities for graduate researchers at Canadian universities and at eight Inria Research Centres in France.

MITACS, a Canadian not-for-profit organization, connects university-based researchers with businesses and government to solve innovation challenges. Inria is a French research institution for digital sciences and technology transfer.

The agreement supports cross-cultural research collaborations that could benefit emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and biomedicine.

The renewal of the MOU outlines opportunities for 10 Canadian students and 10 French students to participate in this Globalink Research Award program per year for three years.

Quick facts:

  • The Globalink Research Award offers masters and PhD students in Canada and PhD students in France the opportunity to participate in 16- to 24-week research exchanges.
  • The projects are jointly supervised by faculty members at Canadian universities and researchers at Inria Research Centres.
  • Applications for the program will be accepted by Mitacs and Inria early 2019.
  • Since 2009, over 4,000 international research internships have been delivered by Mitacs through the Globalink Program.

 

The renewal of the Inria-MITACS partnership continues a trajectory of successful international research collaborations. We are proud of the opportunities provided for graduate students at Canadian universities and Inria Research Centres to focus on challenges faced within computer sciences and applied mathematics.
